5 Ways to Make It Through The 2:00 PM Blues

We all know those 2:00pm blues. That feeling like this work day is never going to end or you start to feel sluggish and slow. Fighting these feelings to make it through the work day is never easy so here are 5 tiny actions you can take to help fight through the final few hours of your work day.

  1. Switch up your drinks! Drinking the same mundane thing all day long like water can become boring. Though drinking water all day is essential when working in the heat and good for one’s health it can really help to switch your drinks for a pick me up. We recommend an electrolyte filled drink such as Gatorade, Body Armor, or Propel for a refreshing pick me up!
  2. Take a look at some motivation! Sometimes the thing we need to help us make it through our work day is a reminder of why we work. It could be as simple as a picture of that dream vacation or your dream car, or your wonderful family however large or small. Reminding one’s self why they work is a very easy way to self-motivate and mood change from the 2:00pm blues to the 5:30pm yays!
  3. Take a walk! It has been proven time and time again that exercise invigorates the mind. Taking a walk or doing 20 jumping jacks or a few push-ups is an excellent way to help stimulate your mind and body through that mundane feeling you get around 2:00pm.
  4. Have a snack! When packing your lunch for the day be sure to pack a snack that you will look forward to having. That could be those strawberries in your fridge that are so good they’re addicting, or that candy bar you just want to eat right now but know you should work for, or even something like your favorite kind of chips. Pack something that you know you are going to be excited to have when those 2:00pm blues poke their ugly nose in. Treat yourself, you deserve it!
  5. Task switch up! After spending hours on a task anyone can become frustrated, bored, or irritated for any number of reasons. Try pausing the task you are working on and switching it up to another task, this can help give your mind a break and test your ability to switch your concentration and focus.

It is important to take a moment for yourself and do whatever you need to help get you through those 2:00pm blues. They are not easy, but they are conquerable. You got this! Just a few more hours!
