Anytime a person is working with heavy machinery it is very important to be aware of personal protection and the equipment needed to do so. One of the most important pieces of protective equipment for the automotive industry is steel toed boots. Accidents happen and when the objects that are being used weigh over 500lbs, those accidents can lead to serious injuries. Another part of personal protection that is fairly easy for a person to do is wearing long pants and gloves. These two things will help protect a person from cuts, dropping heavy objects, and sun exposure. It doesn’t get much worse than getting a cut which could get infected and cause serious injury. This, paired with the better grip that gloves provide, make it a no brainer to use them when working.
Though these are often considered unnecessary and put to the side, wearing protective head gear and eye wear can be essential when performing certain tasks. When a person has a large heavy object over their head and there is a chance that something could fall on them it is very important that they wear protective head gear. This way if something does fall it will at least protect the person’s head which is something that can’t be replaced. This same theory goes for protective eye wear. Though medical technology has come very far in todays world, there is still no replacement for someone’s eyes. Everyone comes with what they have and that’s it. Be sure that when you are working with machinery, and solutions, or even spend hours in the sun you put on protective eye wear. You only have two eyes, protect them.
Lastly, it is important to use the safety locks on your lifts. These locks are installed and included for the sole purpose of protecting you. They are what keep that 9,000-pound vehicle from falling and crushing you. When it comes to your safety it is very important that you take it seriously. You only have one life, protect it and make sure you can go home to your loved ones in one whole piece.
