5 Attributes Millennials Bring to the Table!

Everyone has heard the terms millennial, baby boomer, and gen x and has some opinion of the people that fall in these said categories. Often its forgotten the positives each generation brings to the table. Baby boomers are the generation born between 1946-1964. Generation X are those born between 1965-1980. Millennials are the generation born between the years 1981 to 1996. This makes millennials as of 2018 between 22-37 years of age and making up most of the active and incoming workforce. For this reason, it is important to understand how to make the most out of what millennials can bring to the table.

  1. Flexibility and open-mindedness. Millennials grew up in the most actively changing world that has been seen to this day. Most of them watched the internet grow from the very early stages to the current age of internet everywhere and anywhere within seconds. Millennials also watched the world change drastically in communication and the involvement in each other’s lives. They watched as what use to be considered private information in each other’s lives became publicly shared through many social media platforms and the acceptance of the individual. With the flexibility and open-mindedness that this generation brings they are successful in accepting change and improvement in the work place and can keep your company successfully updating though the changes of the world.
  2. Tech-savvy and creative. The evolution of phones is the perfect example of how the millennials have seen and improved the world. Cellphones have gone from the first original Motorola brick cell phone in the 1980’s to what we now have as smartphones that continue to become faster, clearer, and more reliable. Being tech-savvy and creative or innovative is a great talent that millennials bring to the table that helps continue to improve your business.
  3. Idealistic and expressive. Millennials are worth taking a listen to. They are the generation of new ideas and improvement. Millennials have a mindset of constant improvement and bring many new ideas. The generation of brainstorming. Listen and you might be surprised.
  4. Inclusion and collaborative. A generation that grew up with participation trophies. Taught that everyone mattered and not just the MVP or captain of the team. Use it to better your team! When a person feels of importance and value they are more effective. Millennials have continued to show that the lesson of inclusion and collaboration is important when working in a team and bettering a business.
  5. Ambitious and motivated. With so much creativity, ideas, and collaboration it’s amazing the ambition that comes from millennials. It appears ideas that once scared generations are becoming more and more real and less crazy. The motivation and ambition millennials bring to the workplace is something that progresses. Ideas do not just sit in on a white board for months or years but rather they are acted on and become amazing things within just a short time!

Millennials are often shown in a negative connotation when really, they can be a very positive addition to have in the work place. Millennials are taking over the workforce. Embrace what could and will be!
